We have complementary skills. Julia’s expertise is more rooted in programs and their design, evaluation and management. Tom’s is more rooted in organizational planning, management and organizational development. Mendelsohn, Gittleman & Associates (MGA) draws upon both of our perspectives for each and every project. We also involve other qualified professionals on many projects in order to access additional skills, or to increase MGA’s capacity when necessary. In all cases, however, either Tom or Julia personally serves as the principal consultant and project manager. They ensure the work is done completely, on time and to MGA’s high standards.
Core Services MGA’s Research & Program Evaluation services help managers, board members or funders to measure the success of existing programs, create effective new initiatives, and improve service to communities. We are skilled at grounding organizations’ work in a broader research and policy context; we know how to focus in on the key metrics that will reflect your programs’ success. We recognize that evaluation projects risk becoming too “academic” or divorced from your day to day work. Having worked for years on the front lines of program delivery and management, we conduct focused, actionable research. We design evaluation systems that are practical to implement and maintain. Our feet remain firmly rooted in the real world, not in an ivory tower.
MGA’s Strategic Planning services build on our research expertise and are similarly rooted in practicality. We design planning processes that involve and value all stakeholders, while allowing planning to progress methodically and deliberately. Successful boards, managers and staff are focused around a single, common set of goals. They each understand their own role in achieving these goals, as well as one another’s. We will help your board and leadership to develop agreement on your priorities for the next 3-5 years and to create a timely and practical blueprint for action.
Secondary Services We also provide a range of other services to assist organizations. These services are often included in our program evaluation or strategic planning projects. If they meet a discrete need within an organization, we also provide them independently.
